LOCKDOWN PHASE 1 - COVID UPDATE

May 27, 2020

Dear relative,

With tomorrow seeing Scotland enter into “Phase 1” of the Scottish Governments lockdown exit plan. We know that you will be anxious to know what that means for your loved ones. With the ‘beginning of the end’ many relatives have been asking “When can we visit?” The simple answer is sadly “Not yet.”

We know this isn’t the answer many were hoping for, but we want to reassure you that the safety of our residents and staff is our priority. Unfortunately, this does mean that for now, we must continue to stay closed to visitors.

While the Scottish Government has laid out steps to relax travel restrictions, exercise and recreation, the guidance for care homes remains unchanged at this time.  Our residents include some of the most vulnerable groups in this crisis and, as difficult as this separation is, we know that their safety is at the forefront of your mind too.

We would like to continue to encourage you to call, phone, email or write to your loved ones. They appreciate every little bit of contact. We have been arranging video calls as often as we can too. We’ve also had a number of requests for garden visits once Phase 1 allows people to travel. However, we simply cannot accommodate the number of families and relatives safely within our gardens while maintaining continued safe social distancing.

We are so grateful for the continued support of everyone who has sent us support and well wishes. You have all made these few months seem that much brighter. Thank you for your continued patience, understanding and support. We look forward to welcoming you all back as soon as we can.

Thank you
