45 BEDROOMS
4 LOUNGES
3 DINING AREAS
AN ENCLOSED SECURE GARDEN
Situated just 500m from Kirkcaldy train station Marchmont is one of our two medium sized 45 bedroom Care Homes and is ideal for locals and those from further afield. Our residents from across Fife enjoy a range of diverse activities and our friendly staff will make you and your family feel welcome, safe and comfortable.

In 2010 a large extension was added to Marchmont to accommodate a further 19 bedrooms and added much improved laundry facilities, an enclosed secure garden area where clients may stroll unaccompanied, a dedicated activities room, and fantastic new seating areas with views of our stunning gardens. The Home also has an interesting history. The plot where Marchmont stands today was bought in approx 1900 by George Wilson, a spirit dealer from Inverkeithing. Marchmont was sold to Harold Ostlere of Barry, Ostlere & Shepherd (linoleum was first introduced by Barry, Ostlere and Shepherd due to the expired patent of Frederick Walton in 1877) in 1920 for £1850.00.

In 1924 Marchmont’s garden was extended when the bottom section, named Beechwood, was purchased from the Beveridge family who lived next door for £426.12.

Marchmont was then sold in the late 1950’s to Mr Mathieson who, up until recently, owned a local shoe shop on Kirkcaldy High Street. He lived there until it was sold to the current owners in May 1988.

The Directors of Beechwood Care lived in Marchmont from May 1988 until November 1989 when it first opened as a Care Home. They added an eleven bedroom extension in 1992, six rooms and a dining room in 1994, and five further bedrooms were added in 1996.
